TBA Lineup for 1/23/10

Attendance was pretty low this week, with only 9 members in attendance. That's ok, though, as we still had fun and enjoyed lots of anime. We even saw a new AMV for the first time in a long while. There was going to be another one, but I blew it. Oh, well. Come to the next meeting to see what it was!

The regular season of Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei has ended for Tampa Bay Anime, and we're now moving on the the OVAs. While the opening animation is a little different, the actual episode is just like what we've grown accustomed to.

This meeting's omake featured the return of Nodame Cantibile! When one of our other anime wraps up, we'll hold votes to see if we move on to watching the rest of Nodame. For now, it'll remain in the omake slot. If you want to discuss Nodame's place in the lineup or anything else about our last meeting, discuss it in this forum thread.

Welcome back to a new year of Tampa Bay Anime! Thanks to everybody who attended and helped us kick off a great year. We started the new year by continuing several series we were watching at the end of last year.

We didn't discuss much club business, but we did look forward to the conventions coming up this year and our general plans for 2010. For some detailed discussion about this year's plans, check out this discussion, 2010, Tampa Bay Anime, & You. If you want to discuss what we're watching or how the meeting went, check out the 1/9/10 lineup thread.

It's not safe to go alone...

After skipping a meeting so everyone could enjoy Halloween with friends and family, we're back with another evening full of anime. Trinity Blood came back, and we checked out the first episode of the new romance / comedy Kimi Ni Todoke. I'll be interested to hear what everybody thought of it in the forum.

It's time to get ready for TBA Annual Holiday Extravaganza! We'll be meeting at BD's Mongolian Grill in Oldsmar on December 12. There will be food, friends, and gifts, so be sure to attend! More details will be posted later this week.

If there's anything you wanna discuss about the meeting, visit this thread.

We're just an open-hearted, magnanimous anime club.

Everyone voted to continue watch everything we watched today, so now we know the club's voice is being heard! Excellent! If you want to have your voice heard, read up on our new voting system and be sure to attend our next meeting!

Also, we discussed canceling the meeting we have scheduled for October 31, 2009. Let us know what you think about it in this thread.

Finally, here are the anime we watched. Come to the official meeting thread and tell us all what you think of them.

TBA Lineup for 9/19/09

Abel Nightroad - Vampire / Vampire Hunter

We started watching the Trinity Blood DVDs loaned to us by Varic this weekend. It's the first "big block" series we've done in a while (that means we show two episodes in one meeting). The story of alien vampires is a lot of fun, and we're looking forward to seeing it through.

We also had a couple fresh new faces in the meeting. It's always nice to have new anime fans visit, and we all hope we'll get to see them again. Why not go visit the forums and greet them, if you haven't already? At the very least, go to this thread and tell us what you thought of the shows we watched.

For this meeting, we watched the first screener we received from Funimation, Trinity Blood. Every once in a while, they'll send us a new DVD to watch in return for us filling out a survey. We don't have the survey now, but watch for it. We want these companies to know that we appreciate them and support the anime industry.

TBA Lineup for 4/4/09

Alright, alright. I get the point.

It's back! The regular meeting lineup has returned after a long hiatus. Several months have passed since this blog listed the shows we watched at the last Tampa Bay Anime meeting. Now, we set things right. This feature will be back every other week, so you can keep track and catch up, if you need to.

And what a perfect time to get back into gear! The new Spring anime season is starting up this week in Japan, so we'll be watching all kinds of new stuff in the coming weeks. Be sure to attend each meeting or follow along with us in the forums.

At the last meeting, we sent off another favorite anime, Potemayo. It's charm and humor will be sorely missed, but we'll do our best to replace with something the club will love.

And now, here's this week's lineup. It features several returning shows and one new one from the new anime season: K-ON!. Tell us what you thought about it in the forums.

It looks like the new Fall anime is going pretty well. We've got a few shows that we can show more of later, and there's still more to come! Be sure to come to the next meeting, to see more of what the future holds.

Next week, we'll try again to see the next couple of episodes of Detroit Metal City. We've got a new version of the files, so there shouldn't be any more trouble with it.

Christmas is coming ever closer! The discussion about where to have our party continues during the meetings and in the forums! Make sure to join in. We'll be making final decisions soon, so make sure you're in on it.

TBA Lineup for 10/4/08

Time to bid the SOS Brigade farewell.

The Fall anime season is beginning, and Tampa Bay Anime is going to be the place to see many of the newest shows coming out of Japan. We started the new season off strong with episode 1 of Toradora, a romantic comedy about a misunderstood, tough-looking guy and his violent but short neighbor and classmate. It was pretty fun, and you can expect to see more episodes of it in the future.

Of course, with all of the new anime coming out, we had to make room in our lineup. We saw the last episode of The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya during this meeting, so we now have time for more brand-new shows. Be sure to attend the next meeting to see what will be hot and popular in the months to come.

TBA Lineup for 9/20/08

Such a nice boy.

Wow. How about that Detroit Metal City, huh? Pretty intense. We'll definitely be watching more of that.

The rest of our lineup was good times, too. It was all returning to shows we've enjoyed in the past. The new season of anime is coming up soon, but in the meantime, we've got lots of fun stuff to watch.

Now, we need to start thinking about what we want to watch more quickly. Haruhi, our only current Big Block anime (which means we watch two episodes per meeting), is ending soon, so we need to pick something we want to see more of. Typically, those two coveted Big Block slots go to the club's favorite shows. So, I need you all to post in this thread and tell me what you enjoy the most in our lineup right now. (Detroit Metal City is exempt. Since it's only 15 minutes per episode, we already watch two per meeting.)

TBA Lineup for 9/6/08

What is it with this club and bread?

We had another fun night at Tampa Bay Anime. We've got several good anime to choose from to replace all of the favorites we recently lost. We've watched Potemayo before, long ago, but we watched it again to give everybody the chance to remember it. It's a good, cute comedy like we haven't had in a while. Every other show was a continuation of things we've seen before. Get into the forums and let us know what you want to see come back on a regular basis!

Club favorite Bamboo Blade is coming to an end! We'll be watching the last two episodes at the next meeting. What should take its place? Kamen no Maid Guy? Special A? Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is already a fixture in our meetings, and we'll probably start doubling up on that one, since it's coming out pretty regularly.

Also, our Anime Bingo Card contest is ending at the next meeting! Be sure to get your entries in before then.
